Entourage, Soho

Entourage was a little bit of a disappointment.  Though it was a set of HKD $138 for 3 courses, I did expect more.

The bread that came first was hot, and butter, olive oil, vinegar, and sea salt were all already provided.  The bread was good – it had the right texture.

For appetizers we had a salmon carpaccio and a cold cut platter – the salmon was pretty good, but the cold cut platter just okay.  There was nothing exceptional about it.

Originally I had wanted to try their duck confit as part of their set lunch, but as they had run out, I had to make do with a vegetable risotto.  The vegetable risotto was only okay.  I liked how it wasn’t too heavy, and it did taste quite yummy, but it wasn’t too special.  When eating it the only taste I could really distinguish was “vegetables”.

Another main course we ordered was the Mushroom Tortellini.  The sauce I really liked – it was light, creamy, and flavorful.  However the tortellini’s fillings were too heavy and thick.

For desserts, we ordered strawberry cake as well as chocolate profiteroles. The cake was terrible to me.  The sponge layer of the cake was hard and crumbly, the filling was a thick custard-tasting paste.  The strawberry sauce drizzled on top was too sweet.

The chocolate profiteroles were much better.  Inside the puffs there was a small chunk of cookies and cream ice cream, which is uncommon but works.  The chocolate sauce, though tasty, was a bit too sweet.

The set lunch at Entourage was pretty good, but could have been much improved as well.
